Ramadan Mubarak! Every year, all around the world, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset for a month.
It is to promote a closeness to God; by abstaining from food, water and other things, it trains you to refocus on the important things in the Islamic faith.
With Covid-19, Ramadan sure looks different for all Muslims around the world. Instead of going to late night prayers at the mosques or having iftar(breaking their fast!) parties in community gatherings, Muslims find themsleves having to do everything at home.
You will see that donations will go up during this time. Although not designated during Ramadan, many people take this time to fulfill their zakat obligation which is to give about 2.5% of one's income to charities and those in need (of course, it is only mandatory if you can actually afford it!). Especially with Covid-19 as stated before, you will see money being raised for medical supplies and countries that are need of support due to the destruction of this unpredicted disease.
This year, Ramadan for Muslims will one that has never been seen before, but that doesn't mean it will be a terrible one. Wish your Muslim friends a blessed Ramadan!
