The streets coloured red from months of bleeding. The people covered in red from months of torture. The ignorance they face from the prey they fall victim to.

Kashmir bleeds red, it longs freedom.

Almost exactly last year (August 5th, 2019), India abolished the acts to protect rights of Kashmiris living within the boundaries of India (Jammu & Kashmir). Article 370 and Article 35A being abolished in August of 2019, sparked tension amongst the Muslim majority region of India. The abolishing of this act meant that, Kashmir will no longer have its disputed rights but will be allowing India to curb its power. Moreover, refugee Kashmiris won’t be considered citizens of their homeland. Considering that fact that 20,000 plus, refugees came to Kashmir seeking refuge, this has had a great impact on them.

Since then, India has been introducing laws to mass torture the inhabitants. Every day, bombing and mass sniper killing takes place, reducing almost half of Kashmir population. With every soul that is murdered for reasons entirely selfish, the mourning of Kashmiris increases. No matter what age, creed or family they belong to, mercilessly their lives are taken.

Precisely one year ago, on August 5, 2019, India abolished the acts to protect rights of Kashmiris and took control of the land under military occupation. From then on, Kashmiris have been living under siege.

Projects and petitions for their freedom and trends on various social medias are striving for their lives. However, it is not enough. The government of India seemingly has no intention to free Kashmiris, despite their cries for self-determination (most are asking for their own country, others are wanting to be part of Pakistan) Religious sites, like mosques are being burned down to build Hindu temples. These temples are being established to increase religious dominance of an adventitious religion, in an area where almost 97% of residents are Muslims. It is the militarized region on Earth and is strategically cut off with a number of internet and communication bans.

What is the purpose of this? Why pressurize them when all the Kashmiris desire is the right to live in a country where they are respected and accepted as human beings?

All that we can do is spread awareness to people who really have huge platforms. They can introduce to people who can make a change in the world to this issue. Moreover, not neglecting their cries and validating heinous projects introduced against their rights.

If you open your eyes to this matter, millions of voices can be heard. All you have to do is raise your power of voice for good.
